The Complete A-Z Of The Undertaker

11. P - Paul Bearer

Taking over from Brother Love in February 1991, Paul Bearer stayed by The Undertaker's side for over five years, greatly enhancing the act from ringside with his high-pitched gleeful wails.

Beholden to the fabled Urn, Bearer would use the device to dramatically revive 'The Deadman' in times of peril and became a key part of the gimmick's important embryonic years.

He would then usher in an entire new arc for the character after brutally turning heel at the conclusion of Summerslam '96's 'Boiler Room Brawl' between Undertaker and Mankind. Aligning with 'The Deranged One' and later Vader in their disputes with his former charge, Bearer would also ultimately reveal that he had watched over the long-thought-deceased Kane during his formative years, and promised to lead him to supremacy over his brother in their battles.

The two reunited as heels in late-1998, with Bearer at The Undertaker's side as he assembled his Ministry of Darkness. A final union between the two in 2004 resulted in Paul being comically submerged in cement by Undertaker, triggering a running joke that would see the portly mortician tortured by Edge, Kane and Randy Orton before his real-life death in 2013.
