2. The Fiend Attacks Kane, Raw 16th September 2019

The original WWE movie-monster Kane made a triumphant return mere moments before this most recent Fiend attack.

He stood tall in the centre of the ring only for things to take a nasty turn. Original as Wyatt’s creation is, Kane’s debut remains a forerunner and influence over all of it, and it was great to see the two come together.

This would have been even better if Mayor Glenn Jacobs hadn’t been involved in the 24/7 title hunt earlier in the evening. As it was, viewers were forced into some extra suspension of disbelief to accept Kane as an unearthly demon, and not just a government official in a leotard.

Ultimately, it didn’t matter: Kane’s terrified face as The Fiend grinned over his shoulder was the perfect visual ahead of the inevitable Mandible Claw.

Nor had The Fiend forgotten his real target, confronting Seth Rollins in the corner. Rollins to his credit did a good job of selling his fear before we cut away to a warped version of the Firefly Funhouse theme tune.

This segment did a great job of stoking anticipation for their upcoming Universal Title clash.
