The Greatest Match From Every WWE SummerSlam Ever

12. 2008 - Undertaker Vs. Edge

The two former Ministry members capped off WrestleMania XXIV in style with a cleverly planned match. Their renewal of hostilities here is a totally different encounter, but reinforces their rare chemistry.

The booking going in is great: Edge, frightened of entering his first Hell In A Cell match against one of the stipulation’s heavyweights, has reached down deep inside himself to find the wild, risk taking performer he once was. The bug eyed intensity he brings to the match stays just on the right side of ludicrous, elevating things in contrast to the stoic, quietly fuming Undertaker.

The spots are brilliant, always used to advance the story. The middle section in particular is a pulse quickener; Edge rams ‘Taker through the wall of the cell, the runs along two announce tables to spear him through a third.

There are throwbacks to previous points in their feud, some gnarly table spots, and a dastardly looking con-chair-to delivered to a prone Edge. After Undertaker gets the win, he chokeslams Edge through the ring, with the hole then spewing flames. Over the top? Maybe. Still fun though.
