The Barbarian didn't wrestle singles for too long, but he was a fairly integral part of the Heenan Family during his first run in the World Wrestling Federation. The Barbarian was the muscle of the group - a group that wasn't exactly short on muscle. He had a couple of high profile singles matches on pay-per-view, defeating Tito Santana at WrestleMania VI, and coming up short against The Big Boss Man at the Royal Rumble in 1991.

The Barbarian's story is pretty interesting. He was actually sent to Japan as a teenager by the King of Tonga to learn the art of sumo, along with the man who would become known as Haku. He then migrated to the United States, trained in professional wrestling, and was going to be pushed as one third of the Road Warriors.

Despite all of this, Barbarian's career never truly took off. His most memorable time came partnering The Warlord as the Powers of Pain, and in the Heenan Family his best work came when hitting Shawn Michaels with a clothesline at WrestleMania VII.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
