The HUGE Match That Almost Happened At ROH Supercard Of Honor 2023

Which two world class wrestlers nearly collided at this year's ROH Supercard of Honor?

Takeshita Ospreay
AEW

Tony Khan was planning on making Will Ospreay vs. Konosuke Takeshita a Supercard of Honor reality this year.

That's according to Fightful Select, with it being said that the one-time IWGP World Heavyweight Champion was at one point set for a dream match with AEW's rising star on last night's PPV. Ospreay went down injured mid-way through March, and said shoulder problem resulted in the Brit having to withdraw from the 2023 New Japan Cup.

While not officially confirmed as the reason for Takeshita vs. Ospreay not making it onto the ROH Supercard, it's probably safe to presume that the latter's injury was the cause of the no-doubt epic showdown not being booked in the end.

At this current moment, it isn't known precisely when The United Empire leader will make his in-ring return. But you can all but guarantee Tony Khan will do whatever he can to bring these two world class performers together in the middle of a squared-circle at some point in the future; maybe even at Forbidden Door 2 in June?

Even without Ospreay vs. Takeshita, though, Supercard of Honor boasted one hell of a card and ultimately delighted those wrestling lovers around the globe who tuned in or the lucky folks in attendance at the Galen Center.
