The Many Betrayals Of Triple H - From Worst To Best

2. Betrayed By Batista

Well, this one is a little more complex than 'so and so betrayed the other'. This was masterful booking, and saw the previously underwhelming Batista become the hottest babyface in World Wrestling Entertainment in 2005.

To understand this however, we need to go back to the night after SummerSlam 2004 when Triple H and Evolution turned on Randy Orton. Batista was a part of that betrayal that night, but as his popularity continued to rise he seemed to become more and more aware of the selfish nature of The Game.

Batista would win the 2005 Royal Rumble (Vince McMahon's quads were the major loser) and as a result could challenge for whichever world title he desired at WrestleMania 21. Triple wanted him to face John 'Bradshaw' Layfield, and as a result began to sow the seeds of that battle by poking both JBL and The Animal.

Mama Batista didn't rise no fool however, and when the time came to decide on his champion Batista plumped to face Triple H. He made this decision by replicating Triple H's thumbs down from Orton's destruction, and the facial expressions of Triple H and Flair were magical.

The crowd went mad, and WWE had a brand new number one babyface.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
