After losing the Undisputed Championship and falling out of the title picture, Chris Jericho began teaming with his fellow Canadian Christian towards the end of 2002. The following year would seem him involved in a number of high-profile feuds, going up against the likes of Shawn Michaels, Goldberg, Jeff Hardy and others.

The recurring theme in Jericho's character throughout this time was jealousy. His feud with Michaels would eventually be eclipsed by their 2008 rivalry, but this one was as good as it got at the time. Jericho idolised Michaels, but the jealousy was clear to see. The beef with Goldberg had real-life connotations but in canon it was about Jericho's jealousy towards Goldberg's WCW success.

The character worked so well because Chris Jericho has always been one of the best at playing the entitled bad guy. Jericho in a role where he plays the part of the self-absorbed jealous egomaniac is Jericho in a role that he plays better than most. The run came to an end with a face turn involving Christian and Trish Stratus, that culminated with with that duo (Christ Stratus?!) betraying him at WrestleMania XX.
