10. ECW Champion Kane

By 2007 Kane had reached peak mediocrity. Whether positioned as a babyface or a heel the then-10 year veteran was a credible performer with a decent amount of name value to slot into whatever spot was available on the card. This generally meant feuding with new champions or laying down for new monsters.

Kane made the move to the revamped ECW towards the end of the year and predictably found himself in a feud with Big Daddy V (previously Viscera). Mark Henry was also involved, because why not throw all of your monsters into one story?

Prior to WrestleMania XXIV Kane won a battle royal to become the #1 Contender to Chavo Guerrero's ECW Championship, and subsequently defeated Chavito in 11 seconds later in the evening. Thus Kane went on a fairly bland run as champion where he had a grand total of zero memorable defence.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
