The Many Faces Of The Rock - Ranked From Worst To Best

7. The Special Guest

Any of The Rock’s post-2004 WWE appearances technically fall under part-time or special guest status, but this refers strictly to his character’s current incarnation. Since 2014, The Rock has become the absolute worst kind of WWE guest. He still gets a huge pop and brings a big audience, but he never uses his popularity to benefit anyone other than himself, and continually buries full-time performers.

October 2014 saw him appear on Raw to confront Rusev and humiliate Lana down before a global television audience. The 2015 Royal Rumble saw Rocky appear to fend-off Kane and Big Show and aid his cousin, Roman Reigns, to Rumble victory, and at WrestleMania 31, he served as a vehicle to allow Ronda Rousey to overpower Stephanie McMahon.

His shenanigans continued in 2016. In January, The Rock once again turned his focus to Rusev and Lana, then dragged Tag Team Champions The New Day down with him. At WrestleMania 32, The Rock came-out to announce the night’s record-breaking attendance in a ridiculously drawn-out segment, before needlessly squashing Erick Rowan in just six seconds.

WWE will always use The Rock for as long as he’s still willing to appear, but it’d be nice to see him put someone other than himself (or Rousey) over sooner or later.
