The Monday Night War Debate: 14 Things We Learned From Eric Bischoff & Bruce Prichard
12. Perceptions Of Bischoff & McMahon
Chris asks both men what the other company's impressions were of their respective bosses. Bruce begins by saying that they viewed Bischoff as a "evil, conniving, lying low life son of a b*tch that was stealing our talent and trying to put us out business and trying to take our livelihoods away from us. That was the perception. Didn't know him, didn't want to know him." This is pretty rich considering the indignant stance the WWE and especially Vince have taken against Bischoff and WCW for years over using the exact same tactics McMahon employed to put the territories out of business. When Vince does it, it's being a businessman, but when he got a taste of his own medicine it was somehow personal. Eric says that his perception of Vince was based on the impressions he received from people who worked for him, such as Hulk Hogan. He admits that when someone would leave WWE and come to WCW they would always tell him what they thought he wanted to hear and share the negatives. He adds that other than that he didn't have a real impression of him other than that he was hugely successful and Eric wanted to be more successful than he was.
