The One Thing EVERYONE Is Getting Wrong About Sami Zayn

Roman Reigns Drew McIntyre

On the September 23rd edition of SmackDown, Sami Zayn became the "Honorary Uce" in a legendary segment of television that looked to be bringing Jey Uso's world around him. It was at this point that Zayn's role in the group became something bigger than a short-term knockabout opponent good for one PLE attraction.

Prior to that, Roman Reigns had been embroiled in a programme with Drew McIntyre that (pretty much) culminated in the 'Scottish Warrior's "homecoming" Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match at Clash At The Castle. There was a palpable buzz in the air for the 'Scottish Warrior' to get the job done, with the power of geography trumping just about any other story the company had told with the 'Tribal Chief' since his WrestleMania 37 victory over Daniel Bryan and Edge.

But he lost. It was bold and risky (and outright stupid when a post-match singalong with Tyson Fury aired as if it were a make-good), but despite the company's excellent set dressing, Drew was a short-term knockabout opponent good for one PLE attraction. WWE's expert promotion just made it seem otherwise.

That was Clash At The Castle, an enormously well-received show that some had speculated could host the Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn Vs The Usos tag team match should WWE race to the conclusion of what to do about the rat in The Bloodline's kitchen.

But a much bigger stage was being set, and it'd be more than one too...
