The Rise & Fall Of TNA | Wrestling Timelines
8. September 28, 2015 | Destination Unknown
TNA denied the report earlier in the year, but a very rapid case of onset buyer’s remorse struck Discovery, and it is reported on September 28 that, effective January, Destination America will no longer carry Impact Wrestling.
In a second rumoured email snafu in as many years (!), Dave Meltzer had reported that Dixie Carter criticised Destination America in a May 2015 email into which a high-ranking management figure had been copied by mistake. This is the same Dixie Carter who told her roster of talent to step it up back in 2009. In a laughable irony, Carter referred to a Discovery executive as a “dummy”.
The last full Impact episode of the year airs two days later, on September 30, but was taped on July 30. After that, TNA scrapes together funds to record “special” ‘One Night Only’ programming for the web and its international partners.
The main event - Drew Galloway and Matt Hardy Vs. EC3 and Tyrus - underscores the plight facing TNA. There’s some talent in that match, yes, but we have reached a nadir of flinging depleted money at WWE rejects.
