The Rise Of Triple H | Wrestling Timelines
September 2008 - Weakness
Throughout the 2000s, Triple H reinforces his image as a brazen, power-hungry politician who cannot sanction the idea of doing business. This take is echoed wherever there’s a disillusioned fan in close proximity to a modem.
The image of Triple H dreamed up by the more negative hardcore fans is that of a boring and pitiful egomaniac who gets to be the top guy, even if he isn’t at that level, because he wields the influence to do so.
Those fans receive something in the way of validation - and catharsis - when it emerges that WWE sent out a private memo to the gaming press banning them from printing screenshots of Triple H’s video game character “in a defenceless or vulnerable position”. Only Triple H is specified, which is telling. John Cena, Batista, nor anybody else is included in these guidelines.
This scoop, broken by the UK-based Fighting Spirit magazine, is key evidence in the case against Triple H.
Triple H, apparently, cannot tolerate the idea of a rendered avatar of his pro wrestling character doing a job.
