The Rock: Every Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

19. Be Cool (2005)

Be Cool Dwayne Johnson
MGM

A disappointing follow-up to the classic 1995 crime comedy Get Short, Be Cool fails to make much interesting of Elmore Leonard's sequel novel, squandering its meta premise amid a lazy excess of cameos and a general lack of the cleverness that made the original such a hit.

There's one performance in the movie that really works, and it sure ain't John Travolta's, that's for sure. The Rock, playing afro-clad, gay Samoan bodyguard Elliott, serves as hilarious comic relief, from kitting himself out in cowboy attire to flashing Travolta the People's Eyebrow.

Johnson received solid acclaim for the part upon release, and it made the world take notice that he could be as funny on-screen as he was in the WWE ring.
