The Rock's 10 Best WWE Moments
4. A Concert-ed Effort
Hollywood Rock in 2003, as has been previously established, was the absolute cat’s pajamas. Walking in with an unequaled swagger, The Rock’s greatest gift was his ability to read a room better than perhaps anyone in wrestling history outside of Hulk Hogan - more on him later.
Understanding the rejection he faced when challenging Brock Lesnar in 2002, he returned in 2003 and gave the world the stereotypical bigshot they were clamoring for him to be. The crowd loved to hate him, and he gave them every reason to do so. Perhaps nothing better encapsulated this than his decision to play the very first Rock Concert from Sacramento.
Coming out with his black vest, tinted shades, and an acoustic guitar, the songs he played were the sort of thing that absolutely set the crowd off, making a crack about the Sacramento Kings that some say California residents are still booing to this very day. The party was eventually crashed by The Hurricane, used as a diversion for Stone Cold Steve Austin to come in, attack the Rock and destroy his guitar, but for a few shining moments, the world-renowned promo skills of the Great One were turned against the audience themselves, and it was magical.
Also, though the first is absolutely the superior version, the sequel, performed a month later, retains a favorite quote, when the crowd mercilessly heckles the Rock, his reply of “No no no, it’s not ‘BOOOO’ it’s The Rock Concert TWOOOOO!” is perfectly delusional.
