The Self-Destruction Of CM Punk In AEW | Wrestling Timelines
June 16, 2023 - Punk Buries Hangman Page (Again)
On Collision Eve, CM Punk, its protagonist, re-litigates the shoot feud with Hangman Page. Not all publicity is good publicity.
In an interview with ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, Punk dismisses the Double Or Nothing match with Page as “garbage”. He insists the match was “poisoned” because he could not be sure that Page, who it is alleged chipped Punk’s tooth with a chop to the face, wasn’t trying to hurt him. Punk says he was too preoccupied with protecting himself to lose himself in the performance.
Page continues not to talk about any of this in the public domain.
In the same interview, Punk claims that he has attempted to contact the Young Bucks, for reasons he doesn't elaborate upon, but was told “do not contact this person” by lawyers. Punk bemoans that “ain’t sh*t been done about” the ongoing, unresolved situation.
On Collision, Punk will work with Samoa Joe and promising, charismatic all-rounder Ricky Starks - but the feud with Hangman is more interesting.
