2. The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels (WrestleMania 25th Anniversary, 2009)
In my article about attending WrestleMania 25, I talked about not expecting the Undertaker and Shawn Michaels match to blow me away in any way. I knew the two superstars would have a good match, but I had no idea they'd provide me with the best wrestling match I'd ever seen in my life. The story was simple, Shawn Michaels claimed he was the best and wanted to end the undefeated streak of The Deadman. With both men born and raised in Texas, it was only fitting that the Reliant Stadium in Houston be their playground for this battle. This match was the beginning of the near falls and false finish type bouts that we've become accustomed to in WWE, and I would argue this is the best use of the concept. In one of the best moments in WWE history, Undertaker nails HBK with a Tombstone and when Michaels kicks out, the camera zooms in to The Dead Man's face to capture his look of utter shock at how Michaels managed to survive. For over 30 minutes, the two legends put on a clinic of storytelling where the fans though it could go either way. Each superkick or tombstone would provide a moment for the audience to be perched on the edge of their seat wondering if the streak would remain in tact or come to an end. It's the best WWE match I've ever seen and it still holds up 7 years later.
