WWE have confirmed on their official website that they are set to return to Australia on 6 October, for a star-studded event hosted in the 100,024 capacity Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The 'Super Show-Down' is being advertised by the company as "the largest collection of WWE Superstars and Legends ever to appear in the country," with a clash between Triple H and The Undertaker announced as its marquee match. The pair last collided at WrestleMania XXVIII six years back., with 'Taker, 53, having seemingly 'retired' in the interim, only to return for this year's New Orleans supershow.

Other names listed for the autumn event include John Cena, Ronda Rousey, Daniel Bryan, and, rather interestingly, Shawn Michaels. The Heartbreak Kid hung up his pleather chaps after suffering defeat at the hands of The Undertaker back at 2010'S WrestleMania XXVI, but has sparked excitement over a possible comeback following a recent interview with Sky Sports.

Tickets for the Super Show-Down, promoted in partnership with events giants TEG Dainty, are available from 28 June. The show is scheduled to broadcast live on the WWE Network, and presumably will take a canonical place within the group's calendar similar to April's Greatest Royal Rumble junket.

WWE will be looking to smash the Australian attendance record they set back in 2002, when the Global Warming tour headlined by The Rock vs. Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar pulled 55,000 punters into Melbourne's Docklands Stadium. A full house at the MCG would legitimately break WWE's all-time attendance record, eclipsing WrestleMania 32's 97,769 figure - but not the ficionalised number of 101,763. Expect October's number to be adjusted for entertainment purposes either way.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
