The Undertaker's 14 WWE Hell In A Cell Matches Ranked From Worst To Best
4. Vs. Brock Lesnar - No Mercy 2002
This pair's later collision may have been all about two grizzled veterans looking to wage war on their biggest adversary for supremacy, but their first Hell In A Cell match told a very different story.
In what many people considered a 'passing of the torch' narrative, the match centred on the young Lesnar's attempts to prove himself as The Next Big Thing. Having decimated Hogan and The Rock in the months leading up to No Mercy, it was time for the young Beast to see if he could hang with 'The Deadman' in his yard.
The truth is that it's hard to even think about this match without getting flashes of 'Taker's face soaked in a crimson mask of blood - a haunting image, no doubt, but that's just an example of how violent the 27-minute affair was.
The two behemoths wrestled an incredibly strong match (which was made all the more visually graphic by 'Taker's severe blade job) and it succeeded in its attempts to put Lesnar over. Though 'The Beast' walked out the victor, he knew that a revered veteran like The Undertaker was not to be trifled with and it ultimately incited a sense of mutual respect between them, bringing their first feud to a close. Man, what a war it was.
