The Undertaker's 23 WrestleMania Matches - From Worst To Best

5. Edge (WrestleMania XXIV)

An arrogant, sleazy, disrespectful and opportunistic champion. A number one contender beloved by his peers and fans, hell bent on regaining the title taken from him a year earlier. The story of the WrestleMania XXIV main event pitting World Champion Edge against The Undertaker was a simple one complicated by interference and a referee bump. Whereas some instances of overbooking could severely hurt the overall quality of the match, it helped in this instance. Edge had relied so heavily on girlfriend Vickie Guerrero (SmackDown general manager) and the La Familia faction to help him to victory that it made sense within the context of the story to have 'Edgeheads' Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins get involved in the bout. No amount of interference or chicanery would prevent Undertaker from leaving his second straight WrestleMania with the World Heavyweight Championship, this time in the last match on the card. For the first time ever he employed Hell's Gate to put an opponent away, forcing Edge to near unconsciousness to regain the title. It was the culmination of a brilliant match between two performers who always had great chemistry together. It was also the start of a months-long program that would lead to a Hell in a Cell showdown some four months later.
