The WORST Wrestling Moment Every Year (1989 - 2025)

22. 2004 | Kane Coerces Lita

There’s not a single moment from the Kane Vs. Lita feud that wouldn’t qualify for Worst Moment. The very premise was appalling.

Kane became infatuated with Lita, who understandably was terrified of his unwanted advances. Kane would not be deterred. He constantly beat the sh*t out of Lita’s partner Matt Hardy until Lita “agreed” to have sex with him. Except, this is not sex. It is coerced sex; a form of rape. What a wonderful thing to watch in your spare time.

Lita fell pregnant with Kane’s baby, after which Kane was cast as an unwanted wife guy. He became equally obsessed with becoming a doting father as Lita attempted to engineer scenarios in which she would accidentally lose the baby. WWE created a stipulation in which Lita would have to marry her rapist in the event that Kane defeated Matt Hardy. Kane defeated Matt Hardy

This was a twisted soap opera-style story that was in awful taste, but this sort of thing was par for the course. Nobody watches wrestling to learn valuable lessons, it’s pointless to be so naive, but for Christ’s sake: if wrestling must deal with the very contentious real-life issues that the industry is woefully ill-equipped to handle, can those involved not be completely evil or inept or thoughtless about it?

Because eventually, after a debuting Snitsky accidentally caused the termination, Kane the rapist turned babyface - and Lita aligned with him. Rapists are bad, guys, but you know who’s worse?

A WWE monster of the week heel!
