This WWE Legend Thought His Gimmick Was A Rib

Even WWE Hall Of Famers think the boss is pulling their leg when it comes to creative.

"There's no way I'm gonna be a wrestling dentist".

Those were the thoughts of one Glenn Jacobs back in 1995. The big man had been summoned to Vince McMahon's office a few months prior, and the swagger ("I'm a WWF Superstar") he walked in with was destroyed by the chief's revelation that he'd be Isaac Yankem D.D.S.

The future Kane thought for sure that McMahon was sh*tting him and the whole exercise was an elaborate rib to see if he could take a joke.

Jacobs told JBL and Gerald Brisco on the pair's podcast that he had several conversations with Jim Cornette down in Smoky Mountain Wrestling about a possible WWF gig. Glenn was positive he'd be clued in on the gag soon and get his real assignment.

That's when Cornette told him that yes, he would indeed be playing the role of a f*cking dentist. Jacobs was mortified, but reasoned that he'd still be working with Bret Hart at SummerSlam '95. That softened the blow somewhat.

He recalls being "stone-faced" when Vince told him the plan, and even more annoyed when Jim confirmed that it was real. No wonder.
