TNA's 10 Best Moments
10. Lethal And The Guns Save The X-Division
The Motor City Machine Guns had better matches with Beer Money in their great Best-of-5 series, but from a storyline standpoint, their feud with Team 3D reigns supreme.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin upset the brothers in a match at Bound For Glory, and Brother Ray and Brother D-Von didn’t accept defeat very well. Later in the night they declared war not just on The Guns, but on the entire X-Division, with a single goal in mind: kill them all!
The two large bullies showed no remorse as they attacked the smaller wrestlers time and time again. They then brought in their own X-Division member Johnny Devine, and handed him the title which they stole. This obviously didn’t sit well with quite a few wrestlers on the roster, and a match went down at Against All Odds with The Guns and Jay Lethal taking on Team 3D with enormous stakes: if Team 3D won, the X-Division would go away forever.
In a dramatic streetfight, it was a modern day David vs. Goliath...except with three Davids taking on three Goliaths (or two Goliaths and one David, since Johnny Devine was smaller), with the younger, more athletic wrestlers barely coming out on top. Lethal retrieved his title, and the big bullies were embarrassed. Most importantly, the X-Division was saved!
It was a memorable conclusion to a great feud that put a trio of talented, young wrestlers in the spotlight.
