TNA's 10 Best Moments

4. Christian Shows The World

Christian was like an earlier version of Daniel Bryan or Damien Sandow: he was the guy that largely got over on his own.

When he broke away from Edge, cut his hair, had Tomko by his side, and turned into Captain Charisma, he became one of the most entertaining acts in all of wrestling. WWE management just never quite saw it.

After a very brief shot at the top, he was demoted back to the mid-card and sent off to SmackDown. When his contract ran up, he felt that he deserved better and decided to join TNA. It was a risky move.

This was huge for the company, though, as other top stars who joined them had gone there because WWE wasn’t interested in them. Christian could have stuck around, but he wanted to prove he could be a top guy.

After a couple of months in his new company, he got that big main event opportunity as he battled Jeff Jarrett for the TNA Heavyweight Title at Against All Odds 2006. Jarrett was up to his usual tricks, but Christian outsmarted and out-wrestled him to finally capture the biggest title in a national promotion.

It was gratifying to see a man who worked so hard reach the top, and the fans celebrating with him in the ring helped cap of one of the best feel good stories in TNA history.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
