TNA: The Evolution Of Bully Ray
BUBBA RAY DUDLEY - WWF/E, 1999-2005 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jWvHiGmTPU When The Dudley Boyz made their WWF (now WWE) debut in 1999 they were the perfect fit for the Attitude Era and the shot in the arm that the tag team division needed. After brawling their way onto television attacking teams like the APA, Bubba and D-Von soon began a feud that involved The Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian which led to several infamous matches involving tables, ladders and chairs the most famous of which took place at Wrestlemania XVII. During his time with WWE LaMonaco was given the opportunity to wrestle as a singles competitor and headed to the RAW brand and positioned as a mid-card babyface. Although his run was moderately successful the fans wanted a Dudley Boyz reunion more than anything and it was clear - at least with the poor gimmick he'd been straddled with - D-Von was going to flounder as a heel on Smackdown. So it was with some reluctance from LaMonaco (who always wanted a singles push) that the Dudleyz were reunited and with their little brother Spike ran roughshod over the WWE for several more years. After winning 10 tag team titles (including the WCW tag team title during the notorious Invasion angle) The Dudleyz were shockingly released from their WWE contracts in 2005. Perhaps more shocking than that though was the news they would never again be allowed to use the name Dudley as it was now a WWE owned trademark.
