This would probably be the best move for the company, and one that seemed the most likely not long ago.
Billy Corgan truly loves professional wrestling. He understands it in a way that Dixie Carter doesn’t. That’s not meant to be a vicious dig at her or anything, it’s just that wrestling is a surprisingly complex business to get. You can’t just grab a big muscular dude, push him as the champion and expect everyone to love them (see Roman Reigns for example). Corgan knows that, he knows the history of the business and he wants to use that knowledge to save the company.
For starters, he's spoken of his desire to change the name of TNA to something else, which is a long overdue move. He wants to start up live tours again. He wants to bring in new, exciting talent who can add to the entertainment of Impact and he wants to take the company in a new direction.
This past year has been TNA’s best ever in terms of creative, and Corgan’s influence on the product is likely a big part of that reason. If he can continue down the road he’s going, but with full control, then he may be able to bring the company back to levels of visibility it once had.
