Gable Steveson SummerSlam
WWE

Olympic gold medallist Gable Steveson will be in the house for WWE SummerSlam 2021 this weekend.

The 21-year-old amateur wrestling standout tweeted the following on Monday, confirming his attendance:-

This news comes less than 48 hours after Steveson informed USA Wrestling of his decision not to attend the upcoming World Wrestling Championships in Oslo, Norway this October. Steveson would have qualified to represent the United States by default after winning his Olympic gold medal.

Gable became the USA's first super-heavyweight freestyle gold medalist since 1992 in Japan this summer, scoring a 10-8 win over Georgia's Geno Petriashvili in the finals.

Steveson has been heavily linked with a move into professional wrestling upon wrapping his amateur career. While he has also teased a career in mixed martial arts, the WWE links have intensified over the past few weeks, creating further speculation on his future.

At 21 years old and 6'1"/260lbs, Steveson fits the mould of what Vince McMahon is reportedly looking for from developmental prospects following NXT's recent philosophical shift. It'll be interesting to see if anything comes of his SummerSlam attendance, as it's easy to understand why WWE would want to sign him.
