Triple H: 5 Awesome Matches And 5 That Sucked

3. Triple H Vs Shawn Michaels Vs Chris Benoit - World Title Match, Wrestlemania 20

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJid1jx7qAQ People complain about Triple H burying talent and not putting people over ... but he put Chris Benoit over huge in their Wrestlemania 20 main event. The triple threat involving Shawn Michaels was one of the best matches I have ever seen. It is still probably in my top five, although I haven't watched it since Benoit murdered his family. The Decemeber 29th 2003 Michaels vs Triple H match had implicated HBK into the Mania main event. Chris Benoit had won the Royal Rumble and was the number one contender. Triple H went into the match as World Champion, and had lost a lot of the muscle bulk that had restricted him so much in 2002 and 2003. Back in great shape, Helmsley proved all his critics wrong on this night. The Game was brilliant. He sold like his life depended on it for Benoit and Michaels. He executed his own moves with perfect timing and force. The transitions of action were all done to perfection, the inter changes just right when all three men were involved, before specific periods in which Hunter went one on with Benoit or Michaels. I'll never forget one moment when Hunter was bleeding profusely and slumped in the ring rolling his head - it was a small nuance, but it really left an impression, his selling of the brutality was superb. The end came when Hunter hit Benoit and put him in the pedigree position. Benoit then reversed this into the crossface. The drama wasn't over, Hunter rolled over but Benoit held on and rolled through with the cross face still applied. Triple H tapped. It was one of the best WWE matches ever, and Triple H was a huge part of it. Chris Benoit had always been a great wrestler, but he had never been a star - but that night Triple H made Benoit a star. For all the people who want to talk about Triple H being selfish, you should consider the people he put over at Wrestlemania and made stars of in that period of years - Benoit, Batista, Cena.
