Major business news coming out of WWE yesterday, as the global leader in sports entertainment made a number of big announcements regarding the huge economic pie that is China.

As well as signing a multi-year agreement to broadcast both RAW and SmackDown in Mandarin, WWE also unveiled the first ever Chinese talent to be signed in company history.

Just 22 years old, Bin Wang has a long future ahead of him. Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing in at 220lbs (is there a more generic WWE height and weight?), Wang has spent the last two years training at the Inoki Genome Federation in Japan, the pro wrestling and MMA promotion founded by Japanese wrestling legend and politician Antonio Inoki. Wang will report to the WWE Performance Center this very weekend to begin training.

WWE will also be heading back to China in September for their first live event in the country for three years, with a big show confirmed to take place in Shanghai on September 10th. I'm not talking 'Collision in Korea' big, but it'll still be big.

With WWE starting to make in-roads into the Chinese market, it'll be interesting to see how Hong Kong-born Ho Ho Lun fairs in the upcoming WWE Cruiserweight Classic. Expect him to make a run deep into the tournament.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
