Triple H's 10 Most Notorious Urban Legends

6. He Was Never A Huge Fan Of CM Punk

Story: When CM Punk left WWE the day after the Royal Rumble earlier this year, he was on the brink of being put into a major storyline with Triple H that would have led to a match at WrestleMania 30. CM Punk knew this was going to happen, yet the next day when he went to talk to Vince McMahon apparently he didn't like what he was told and he ended up going home. We haven't seen Punk on WWE TV since then. Punk hasn't talked openly about why he left. He doesn't have to. However, right before he left he did interviews where he talked about having a great relationship with Vince McMahon and how they would text each other late at night with ideas because they were night owls that were friends. He didn't speak so openly about Triple H. There are also stories that have been told by former WWE writer Alex Greenfield where he quoted Triple H as saying that "this kid isn't ready" regarding CM Punk. There have been a number of stories over the years where Punk and others talked about how certain people within the company didn't really believe Punk could be a star. They rarely mentioned a name, but it's believed that Triple H was one of those people. Why People Believe It: When they feuded in 2011 it was bad for Punk. He shouldn't have been taking on a part timer like Triple H and Hunter even won their match thanks to the interference of Kevin Nash. There was no reason for them to be feuding. It angered a lot of fans because Punk was as hot as ever and the whole feud was pointless. Should We Believe It: Yes. Punk left earlier this year right before a Triple H feud. If they got along great and they were friends then he probably would have stuck around to work with him. The feeling is that Punk didn't like Hunter much and he wasn't happy that Hunter was gaining more power in the company, so he decided to walk away. It seems like a reason that makes sense although we'll never know for sure unless Punk speaks up about it.
