Tyler Bate returned to WWE on Monday's Raw (31 March), ending a nine-month absence from the promotion.

Bate had not been seen since July 2024, when he was consigned to WWE's injury list after suffering a torn pectoral muscle while wrestling on NXT, necessitating surgery. On Raw, he reprised his New Catch Republic tag team with Pete Dunne for a match with The New Day.

Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston had hit the ring for a match against unnamed opposition following John Cena and Cody Rhodes' big in-ring segment. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce came out, announcing the returning New Catch Republic as The New Day's opponents, with Bate and Dunne reunited in their native England.

It wasn't a winning return for Bate, however, as The New Day defeated the New Catch Republic in around nine minutes. Afterwards, the announcers presented the victory as Woods and Kingston edging closer to a World Tag Team Championship shot. Champions Ivar and Erik, the War Raiders, confronted The New Day on the ramp afterwards.

Bate, 28, was cleared to return to WWE a few weeks ago. Prior to last night, his most recent match saw him and Dunne defeat Hank Walker and Tank Ledger on the 2 July 2024 episode of NXT. Monday was their first Raw match together since 13 May last year.

Bate and Dunne have a lengthy history together, having aligned as British Strong Style on the global independent scene (along with Trent Seven) years before signing with WWE. Their New Catch Republic tandem came together on SmackDown last February.
