Ultimate Warrior: 5 Things To Forget And 5 Things To Remember

3. The Papa Shango Feud

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7XkkSRT65s The Ultimate Warrior was part of some pretty surreal rivalries that were not always the most lucid in nature. The unpredictable and unconventional nature of his character forgave some of the more insane angles he was part of. His 1992 feud with voodoo practitioner Papa Shango, however, ranks as one of the worst in professional wrestling history. And with good reason. It all began when Shango placed a curse on Warrior that caused the former WWE and Intercontinental champion to collapse with intense abdominal pain. As he was checked on by doctors in the backstage area, he suddenly and violently began to vomit, hurling green bodily fluid in the faces of the physicians. If that was not enough, he would bleed green slime during a later interview with Gene Okerlund. To top it all off, the matches between he and Shango were far more offensive to the eyes than any of the storyline developments preceding them. The feud completely killed the momentum Warrior had behind him following his shocking and unexpected return to WWE at WrestleMania VIII in April of '92. The booking was terrible, the matches worse and as a result, the Papa Shango fiasco became a major blemish on the career of the Ultimate Warrior.
