The Undertaker: 10 Landmark Firsts In His WWE Career
3. His First Hell In A Cell Match Was Against Shawn Michaels - Bad Blood 1997
Two other Undertaker "specialty" matches were already mentioned: The Casket Match and Buried Alive Match. Those two match types really belong to Undertaker, but they were never that good. The Hell in Cell match, on the other hand, is arguably the greatest gimmick match in WWE history. Of course, Undertaker is the guy that has made it the most famous. The Badd Blood 1997 featured Undertaker's HIAC match against Michaels as a way to settle their rivalry that started two months earlier at SummerSlam. It was done this way in the storyline to make fans think that the heel Michaels wouldn't be able to run away from Undertaker due to the presence of the cage, but it still happened anyway. In later years, he had classic HIAC battles against Mankind when he tossed him off the top of the cage and then a decade later with Edge when they broke the side of the cage after a Spear spot. A lot of people, myself included, believe that it's that first one with Michaels at Badd Blood 1997 that was the best of them all. The match was also famous for the debut of Kane too. It had a lot of landmark firsts.
