The Undertaker's 10 Greatest Hell In A Cell Moments
9. He Made Randy Orton's Career
By 2005, Randy Orton had been around for a few years and all signs pointed towards an incredibly bright future for the young, third-generation superstar. His matches with Mick Foley had increased his credibility in the eyes of many fans, and he was already a former World Champion, but it'd be a feud with The Undertaker that would cement Orton's place in the main event. The Cell match is notable for just how much punishment Orton receives at the hand of The Undertaker, and how he kept coming back for more. At the start of the match, he's crafty and dangerous, but also a bit of a coward. As the match goes on, something snaps in Orton and he becomes more ruthless, and is able to go toe-to-toe with The Undertaker. He enters as The Legend Killer, but he leaves as The Viper. This match is also infamous because during the match, everyone gets busted open including Orton's father, Bob Orton Jr. Bob Orton Jr has hepatitis C, and both Orton Jr and John Laurinaitis knew of the condition prior to this match. Undertaker is reported to have been furious when he discovered this, and while it may be unrelated, Bob Orton Jr. was released from WWE less than two months later.
