The big breaking news over the weekend concerned none other than the Beast Incarnate himself, Brock Lesnar.

In a move that has taken pretty much both the professional wrestling and the mixed martial arts worlds by storm, it has been confirmed that the former UFC Heavyweight Champion will be returning to the octagon for the landmark UFC 200 show in July. This comes a mere year or so after Lesnar himself shut the door on a return to MMA and re-signed with WWE.

WWE has confirmed the fight, but also gone to lengths to state that it is merely a 'one-off'. No opponent (the poor sod) has been announced as of yet, but Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the announcement could come as early as tonight (Monday) on ESPN. The deal itself was only finalised recently, but reports suggest that Lesnar has been in-training since April.

What does this mean for Lesnar and World Wrestling Entertainment? Well, I think it is fairly safe to assume that this is a 'you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours' type of deal, albeit a back-scratching deal where the scratching is done by a legitimately terrifying hunk of human ham come to life. WWE will surely get something in return, but just what remains to be seen.

Also, that CM Punk is likely to finally make his UFC debut this summer. Meltzer went on to say that Fox Sports 1 has a reality series following Punk and his opponent (Mickey Gall) scheduled for August, so the safe money would be on Punk/Gall happening later in that month or early in September.

CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar, MMA Rules, at WrestleMania 33? Maybe I'm getting carried away...
