Update On Kane's WWE Status

Where has the Big Red Machine been lately?

Kane hasn't exactly been a major player since WWE revived the Brand Split in July. He played a bit part role in the initial Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton feud, but has barely been utilised since, with his last televised appearance coming in a win over Luke Harper on November 29th.

It came as a surprise when Kane didn't appear in the Royal Rumble. Kane is a Rumble institution, and with a record 43 total eliminations to his name, he's one of the strongest performers in the event's history. He was nowhere to be found at this year's event, and the reasoning is finally clear.

Kane's omission led to much speculation on his status, but the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Kane has been sidelined with a "variety of nagging injuries" in recent weeks. His last match came on a December 5th live event, and there's no word on when he'll return.

Now entering his 22nd year of WWE employment, Kane is one of the company's most tenured wrestlers. While Kane has always kept himself in good shape throughout his career, this could be a case of age finally catching up with the 49-year-old.
