Vince McMahon's 10 Biggest Failures
2. WBF
McMahon’s obsession with tight glutes and chiseled abs led to the World Bodybuilding Federation, a failed attempt to make bodybuilding colorful and story driven. From 1990 to 1992, 13 competitors trained to become WBF Champion, a distinction earned by winning posing competitions on pay-per-view. Regis even co-hosted the first one.
As you can tell by the lack of words I have to describe this endeavor, it was boring. Wrestling fans didn’t care about bodybuilders, especially those with limited personalities compared to the larger-than-life characters of the WWF. The whole effort seemed like a marketing ploy for ICOPRO, a line of powders and pills that nobody bought.
Several months after the WBF closed, McMahon was indicted in federal court on charges of distributing steroids to wrestlers.
