Vince McMahon's 15 Most Epic Promos

2. "Bret Screwed Bret" (1997)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdppwbqwGHo Yes, this is a sit-down interview, but it doubles as an astoundingly great promo, too. When one realizes later that Vince, Pat Patterson, Jim Cornette, Shawn Michaels, Triple H and probably a few others were all in on the Montreal Screwjob, the idea that "Bret screwed Bret" becomes completely laughable or totally infuriating. The latter is ultimately what Vince wanted the fans to feel, the long-time WWF standard-bearer and flag-waver being screwed by the evil corporate boss and his gang of pompous suits being ideally what allowed for Vince McMahon to become the dominant heel character that he evolved into for the better park of the next fifteen-plus years after cutting that promo in the middle of that interview.
