WCW's Dungeon Of Doom: Where Are They Now?

8. Konnan

If you look into just about any obscure wrestling faction from the last twenty years or so, chances are, Konnan was probably a part of it. A mainstay of AAA, TNA and WCW, Konnan appeared in nWo’s Wolfpac faction, The 3Live Kru, The Filthy Animals, The Latin American Xchange, as wells as The Authentic Luchadores. But the Mexican legend’s first run with a stable was as a part of The Dungeon of Doom, after losing his United States Title to Ric Flair. His time with the group was short-lived, however, and Konnan went on to bigger and better things after leaving The Dungeon.

In an interview with WWE twenty years later, Kevin Sullivan would regret bringing Konnan into The Dungeon of Doom: “He didn’t fit in The Dungeon of Doom. He was forced into it. I think he felt he was being punished in some way, because we were the whipping boys. But he’s a fabulous performer and has a great mind for the wrestling business. He should have been on his own. Putting him with us, he just lost all the steam he had.”

After leaving the group, Konnan would go on to score two WCW Tag Team Titles, the WCW TV Title, as well as championships in TNA and AAA. After wrestling his final match in September 2013, Konnan now hosts ‘Keeping it 100 With Konnan’, on Chris Jericho’s podcast network, and has made appearances for various indie promotions, as well as Lucha Underground.
