WCW Nitro Debut Wrestlers: Where Are They Now?
3. Jimmy Hart
Rightly regarded as one of the most iconic managers of all-time, there’s no one quite like “The Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart. After cutting his teeth alongside Jerry Lawler in Memphis, Hart transitioned to WWE in 1985, and he became a megastar. From his work with the Hart Foundation to taking Greg “The Hammer” Valentine under his wing, Hart managed some of the biggest names in the sport, and he and Hogan left WWE together in 1993.
Jimmy managed Hulk on Nitro’s debut show, but eventually turned on him at Halloween Havoc ‘95. From there, Hart became the Dungeon of Doom’s villainous manager, before aiding Ric Flair to his eventual 12th world title. He remained with WCW all the way through to their demise, but his contract wasn’t picked-up as part of Vince McMahon’s corporate acquisition, and Hart was left jobless.
New 73 years old, Jimmy Hart isn’t anywhere near as busy as he used to be, but he still makes the odd appearance. He has owned and operated two wrestling promotions since WCW’s demise (Xcitement Wrestling Federation, and the all-female Wrestlicious), and was a cast member on the WWE Network’s Legends’ House in 2014. Wrestling aside, Hart keeps himself occupied by working with a number of different charities including Make-A-Wish.
