By rights, Mr. Monday Night should have been one of WWE's most pushed acts during 2002. He was on fire in 2001 during the Invasion, routinely stealing the show and getting over strong with the crowd in the process. He was just so different from anyone else and you couldn't help but cheer his unique combination of explosive offense and laid-back personality. Van Dam did headline a few PPVs here or there, but the majority of his WWE career has to be considered a disappointment, considering his obvious potential. Van Dam himself was incredibly burned out by the time he left in May 2007. Following his WWE exit, he did select international tours, did a couple of acting gigs and then went to TNA in 2010. He left TNA in 2013 and returned to WWE on a reduced, Chris Jericho-like schedule. He popped in and out over the next year but looks to be finished with WWE. He's back working the indies and supposedly has a role in an upcoming Steven Seagal film.
