Helms was one of the surprise packages of the Inasion. Originally a rather plain, making-up-the-numbers cruiserweight competitor, he transformed into the Green Lantern-inspired The Hurricane and laughed all the way to the bank. Indeed, at one point in the early 2000s, Hurricane merchandise was second only to Rock and Austin in terms of popularity. But The Hurricane character only had a limited shelf life and Helms went back to being serious in late 2005. Unfortunately, his Cruiserweight Title supremacy was cut short due to a broken neck, and when he returned he could never regain the momentum he had before the injury, despite another turn as The Hurricane on ECW. Helms was fired by the WWE in 2010 and has been active on the indie/convention circuit since. He recently scored a job as a road agent in TNA and appeared on-camera during TNA's final PPV, Bound for Glory. With that company's future in doubt, it's hard to tell what the future holds for the 41-year-old Helms.
