What REALLY Happened To WWE's 16 Tallest Wrestlers Ever?
14. Big John Studd (6'10)
Known For: Being somebody Andre The Giant didn't like! It's true, Andre just had zero time for guys who were also booked as giants. That didn't stop the WWF from promoting Big John Studd as a featured attraction, but his surprise 1989s Royal Rumble win came a little too late in the day to rocket him back into favour with the core fanbase.
What Happened To Him: Studd was posthumously inducted into WWE's Hall Of Fame in 2004. He'd died following a battle with liver cancer in 1995, but was fondly remembered during the ceremony. After quitting the WWF due to an argument over payoffs shortly after his Rumble win, Studd continued wrestling a loose schedule on the independent scene where he could.
Away from the ring, John also appeared in several movies and TV shows. For example, he had a part in 1991 rom-com The Marrying Man, and even showed up as himself in an episode of The A-Team in 1985. Fittingly, that episode was called 'Body Slam', which is a move many workers struggled to lock on Studd throughout his career.
The idea that he couldn't be slammed was even worked into a WrestleMania 1 clash with close, close personal friend (jokes!) Andre. Their short gimmicked bout put $15,000 on the line for the guy who could body slam the other. Andre won the contest, which is probably just as well if he wasn't fond of Studd going in.
Bruce Prichard revealed via his 'Something To Wrestle With' podcast years later that McMahon planned to push Studd to the moon in 1989, but quickly found out that the big guy didn't have much left in the tank to offer.
