What WWE Match Could Tempt Wade Barrett To Make An In-Ring Return?
Battle of the Brits anyone?
Current NXT commentator Wade Barrett would consider an in-ring return against an old friend, he recently revealed in an interview with Digital Spy.
Barrett hasn't been seen in a WWE ring since exiting the company in 2016 and hasn't wrestled full-time ever since. Now, he seems to be entertaining the idea of finally stepping back inside the squared-circle, but only if his comeback opponent was none other than fellow Brit and current WWE Champion - Drew McIntyre.
‘In truth if I was to come back as a full-time in-ring guy, I really would be chasing the sunset of my career. I don’t think there’s that many more years left in me. So the question is, what would I want to achieve? The only thing I didn’t achieve in WWE that I always wanted to achieve was to become the WWE Champion, and that title is now held by an old friend of mine, Drew McIntyre. So taking him on for that title is something that certainly might tempt me back for a match or two.’
With Barrett now established as one of the finest commentators in the industry at this moment in time, fans would likely understand if he chose to leave his in-ring days in the past and focus on calling the black and gold brand's weekly programming instaed.
However, if the former Intercontinental Champion and King of the Ring winner does decide to lace up his boots for a few comeback bouts, few opponents would be as interesting and enticing as the 'Scottish Psychopath'.
Only time will tell if Barrett can resist the urge for 'one more match'...
