Why AEW Has Just Helped Triple H In A Big Way

But back to the glorious SmackDown segment for a second. It was, without hyperbole, the perfect development at precisely the perfect time.

Sami Zayn's attachment to The Bloodline kicked off before Vince McMahon resigned in disgrace, but Triple H's stewardship of the story has elevated something good to something great and Roman Reigns' uneven Universal Championship reign to a story at long last worthy of its lofty status.

Sami starter as an irritating infiltrator and may yet prove to be just that, but fan reactions to ever last dramatic beat of Reigns’ temperature-testing on Friday highlighted the immense sympathy he has commanded in an ostensibly heel role.

It will be devastating - devastating - when Reigns decides he is finished with Zayn and sets The Bloodline on him, or delivers the kill shot himself. Jey Uso will clearly be over the moon, but Jimmy being forced to carry out the act will be as much a “Hello Darkness” slow zoom into his soul as it will be for the watching world.

It has been widely speculated that Kevin Owens will be Sami’s logical saviour, facilitating a monster showdown with The Usos perhaps at WrestleMania itself.

It would be quite something for the two perennially tethered Canadians to be back together on the ‘Grandest Stage’ yet again, especially considering how much Zayn’s epic “Honorary Uce” moment owes to one of Owens’ finest ever nights.
