Why It Is Literally Impossible To Hate AEW
All Elite Wrestling isn't quite perfect, but Tony Khan's promotion is impossible to dislike.
[Yes, yes, "of course Sidgwick wrote this".]
A lot of people despise All Elite Wrestling. A lot of people base their entire online persona around their hatred of All Elite Wrestling.
You see it "in the community" constantly. Botches are isolated and doctored to look far more glaring than they actually are on bad faith Twitter accounts. Bad faith Twitter accounts also unleash the dumbest takes that can't possibly hold up to scrutiny (Jeff Hardy was good last week, but he sucks now!).
There's always a counter-argument, and they probably know this, but they wouldn't get the saddest possible version of "clout" if they stopped posting through it. It's not just the usual suspects; there are people in the replies who agree with the opinion that AEW is an irredeemable company with zero value whatsoever. They find it laughable. They consider it an affront to Vince McMahon and what he built...with his father's money, which seems familiar, no?
The term "AEWSexual" has been coined to describe fans of the promotion that its critics insist has only drawn a following because bitter ex-fans of WWE just want something, anything, that isn't WWE (even though both ROH and Impact Wrestling have operated longer than both ECW and WCW).
Entire podcast rackets are dedicated to burying the promotion's creative output. People hate this promotion so much that some are able to make money criticising it. The listeners are so desperate to have their defensive thoughts echoed that they will spend hours of their lives reinforcing their hatred to themselves.
This thought process, however, is literally impossible.
