Why WWE Destroyed Roman Reigns At Clash In Paris (WWE News)
Roman Reigns was written off TV at WWE Clash in Paris.
While he may have been victorious at WWE Clash at Paris yesterday, Roman Reigns' night ended with the OTC being carried out on a stretcher by the time all was said and done with his match against Bronson Reed.
For the match itself, Reed actually dominated large portions of it before Reigns eventually got the 1-2-3 after hitting a top rope Samoan Drop followed by a Spear after 22 minutes. Post-match, as Paul Heyman entered the ring to check on Big Bronson, Roman started to stalk his former Wiseman. And when Heyman realised what was happening, he proclaimed his love for the Tribal Chief, acknowledged the Head of the Table, and even gave Roman back the Shoe-la Fala that Bronson had put together over the past few weeks.
However, Roman Reigns was having none of Paul E.'s shenanigans, grabbing Heyman in a guillotine choke until the one-time ECW head honcho dropped lifelessly to the mat. From there, Reigns made his way to the commentary desks, signed a couple of his sneakers, and threw them out into the Paris La Défense Arena crowd. That is, until out of nowhere, Bron Breakker appeared and ran across the announce desks to Spear Roman through the English language commentary table.

Bron, Bronson Reed, and Paul Heyman made their way up the entrance ramp, seemingly happy with the carnage they'd left behind them, but it turns out the villainous Vision weren't quite done with Roman Reigns. As Roman staggered his way to the base of the entranceway, an irate Breakker charged back down the ramp and hit another huge Spear on him. That led to the Bron-Brons rolling Reigns back in the ring, where Breakker held him down as Reed went up to the top rope and landed a Tsunami Splash.

With Roman Reigns then strapped to a stretcher, the heels once again started to make their way to the back, only to once again decide that they weren't finished with Roman. This time, it was Bronson Reed charging back down to ringside, hitting the ring and nailing another Tsunami, this time as Reigns was strapped to a backboard and had no way of even moving.
THIS IS INSANITY! ?

Finally, Jey Uso turned up on the scene to hit a couple of Superkicks on Bronson and Bron, though the two powerhouses quickly turned the tables, with Breakker hitting Main Event Jey with a Spear. Even with Adam Pearce and a bunch of security and medical staff on hand, that didn't stop Bronson Reed from again heading to the top rope and again hitting another Tsunami Splash on the downed Roman Reigns.
The point being, this was a major injury angle, a prolonged beatdown, and a way to write Roman Reigns off TV for the foreseeable future. As for why exactly Roman was written off TV, PWInsider confirms that, yes, this is indeed so that he can go and film the much-hyped Street Fighter movie from writer Dalan Musson (Captain America: Brave New World) and director Kitao Sakurai (Twisted Metal).
With Street Fighter filming in Australia, Roman is scheduled to be on set from tomorrow through until the end of September, barring any delays, with him playing fan favourite character Akuma. Of course, WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is also a part of Street Fighter, where he'll be playing the hugely popular character, Guile, while NJPW's Hirooki Goto is playing beloved sumo wrestler E. Honda. A live-action adaptation of the classic video game franchise, Street Fighter is expected to release at some point in 2026.
