Why WWE Needs To Immediately Fix THIS Historic Mistake
3. The Final Days
Another factor in the demise of Demolition, was the WWF arrival of the aforementioned Legion of Doom in the second half of 1990.
With the Road Warriors playing a part in the finish, the Hart Foundation defeated Demolition at SummerSlam '90 for the Tag Team Titles. Given how McMahon had pushed Demolition partly due to not being able to previously sign Animal and Hawk, it didn't take Vince long to pair these teams up once LOD finally landed in the World Wrestling Federation.
Following SummerSlam, the Demolition trio would spend the next few months continuously losing to the Legion of Doom and Ultimate Warrior in six-man bouts on live events and TV, and also lose a four-on-four Survivor Series match (with Mr. Perfect) against the face-painted trio and Kerry Von Erich.
Ax would soon depart the WWF due to creative unhappiness and the wear and tear on his body, though Ax and Smash would briefly continue on as a tag team, culminating in a four-minute loss to Genichiro Tenryu and Koji Kitao at WrestleMania VII. By the summer of '91, both Smash and Crush had likewise opted to leave the WWF, bringing a formal end to Demolition's time with the promotion.
Of course, Smash would later resurface as Repo Man, and Crush would resurface as, well, 'Kona' Crush - with the two even becoming rivals in 1992 - but 1991 was officially the end of the line on the major stage for one of the greatest teams to ever lace up a pair of boots.
Tragically, Brian Adams would pass away in 2007 at the age of just 43, though Bill Eadie and Barry Darsow would continue to don the paint for sporadic matches up until as recently as 2017.
