Why WWE WrestleMania No Longer Has The Best Matches Of The Year

There’s but one upside to WWE having grossly neglected women’s wrestling for so long: there barely are female part-timers. Ronda Rousey is the only real one. Trish, Lita, The Bella Twins or Beth Phoenix show up from time to time, but they’re not trusted with the big main events, especially not on the biggest stage of the year. As such, when it comes to women, we get to see wrestlers whose prime is not 15 years behind them compete in the main matches.

Earlier, we wrote that since 'Taker fell off, there was nothing to look forward to at ‘Mania to consistently elevate the overall match rating scale. Scratch that: we have some phenomenal female talent.

The Triple Threat for the inaugural Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 32 was by far the finest encounter of the night. Ronda Rousey’s mixed tag match and Charlotte vs Asuka surely take up two spots on the 34th edition’s pedestal. Charlotte vs Rhea Ripley was surely WM36's best non-cinematic match (alongside the Smackdown Tag Team Championship bout). And if last year’s Sasha Banks vs Bianca Belair was your pick as WWE’s MOTY, well it’s a solid choice.
