Why WWE's New Faction Is Already Doomed To Fail
The start of the broadcast was "plagued" by "technical issues". The lights went black and then flickered almost imperceptibly as the night went on. The announcers called attention to it every time, because as you and I well know, we can't be trusted to infer this on our own. You see, we are as thick as f*ck, so we weren't to know.
As Kevin Owens hosted the Kevin Owens show, his mic cut out. The production otherwise went unaffected. Entrance music played as scheduled. The hard camera captured virtually all of the action. If anything, last night's RAW was very successful from a production standpoint. WWE experimented with a new dual location filming set-up, one of which was a new experiment, with the accompanying risks of an experiment, and the production team seamlessly transitioned between the two.
It was revealed later in the broadcast that a shadowy group clad in black had set ablaze a power generator with a molotov cocktail. So this explained the production hiccups, which were incredibly minor inconveniences. They did not fundamentally disrupt the show. WWE didn't even turn the internet off and on again. The group were seen celebrating in front of the flames. They celebrated, as it turns out, little to nothing at all, looking like f*cking geeks.
The damage wrought by the hands of this disrupting force wasn't even hokey. It was entirely ineffective, and that it was sold as otherwise stigmatised the very first few story beats as a total joke.
Also, rather inconveniently, this rebellious group, with a mission to change WWE from within, looked indistinguishable to Bruce Prichard's inexplicable ninja posse. Therein lies the core issue. Or one of the core issues.
